Since many customers had enquired about a chilli oil, we are delighted to say we have a new addition to the shorkk family.
Having tasted this chilli infused oil in Lebanon on a previous trip, we felt that this was the perfect oil for adding a little warmth to dishes. When you’re in need of an emergency chilli, all you need do is delve into the bottle!
shorkk markets in june
June 1st sees us back at Whiteladies Market. Since it’s summer and Mediterranean ingredients might be on your shopping list, we’ll be coming to this market twice a month. So look out for us on 15th June as well.
On the 8th June we’re joining a new market for us the Ardagh Food & Craft Market, on Horfield Common Bristol. This market happens on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10am – 4pm.
The Souk el Salam is back! This time in a bigger venue in St James Piccadilly on Sunday 9th June from 11.30am. We’re very excited to have been invited back to raise money for the Amos Trust and Medical Aid for Palestinians. This time you’ll need to buy a ticket in advance, see the Amos Trust website for more details.
shorkk reviews
seasonal shorkk
Staring to appear in UK greengrocers are nets of broad beans from Italy. While one isn’t large enough to feed a family it does provide a very quick delicious meal for one.
In Lebanon and Syria cooking fresh broad beans with garlic and coriander is sometimes done with meat and takes longer. Here’s we’ve included a beans alone recipe which is a treat and takes all of 10 minutes to do. Buy two nets of beans and you could feed a friend! It goes without saying that the puddle of golden extra virgin olive oil to serve it with is essential!
a visit to our small producer
Visiting Lebanon in the spring as trees came into blossom and wildflowers pushed out of the soil, we were welcomed to the farm of bassatin baanoub by Yasmina Raffoul and Jean-Pierre Zahar.
The diversity of the trees and the crops they grow recall traditional ways of farming and looking after the land. We hope you enjoy their story as much as we enjoyed our visit.
