About the shorkk duo
lebanese essentials
Hard to think of a kitchen in Lebanon without the ingredients that are the shorkk duo. Extra virgin olive oil is the basis of all Lebanese cuisine. Zejd’s EVOO comes from the north where olive trees grow above the Mediterranean coastline to the borders with Syria. The pomegranate molasses, from Chekka on the coast, is used to add tartness to salads and meat dishes. For more about pomegranate molasses, see shorkk stories pomegranate.
shorkk recipe ideas
We’ve highlighted two ideas from our recipe page using the shorkk duo. One savoury and one sweet. Mixed together, they make a wonderful tangy dressing for the asparagus red pepper and feta salad. Ideal as a summer lunch for friends and family.
Since there is no salt or sugar added to Zejd’s pomegranate molasses, you can use them for something sweet. Our recipe for the chocolate cake with pomegranate molasses is made with Zejd’s extra virgin olive oil and without flour, so is perfect for those with certain dietary requirements.
the shorkk duo gift
If you’d like this to be sent as a gift, we can include a gift bag and a gift card. Drawn by Zelfa el Khazen, it features a namlieh, a Lebanese larder, in Arabic. We can write the message for you on the shelves. As you can see, it would make a very fine father’s day gift!
